Response to "Is Twitter a 2 way Street?"

1.Response to "Is Twitter a 2 way street?"

Twitter is a well-known social platform, just like Facebook and Weico. There are millions of users from all over the world on Twitter. There is no doubt that Twitter provides more chances for users to make new friends and develop contacts. I’d like to use my own experience as an example. At first, I just followed people which I know them in daily life, such as my classmates and my professors. They also follow me. When I saw something interesting, I will @ them. Or when I tweet something about them, I will @ them. As for some personal message, I will send a direct message. As time goes by, I tweet more information about myself. I also show my interests. Then my follower became more and more. When I found someone I really want to make friends with, I will also follow them. Since we have something in common, it is easy to have an interaction. In this way, Twitter can be seen as a two-way street.
However, I also follow some people who have hundreds of followers. They can be pop stars, famous people or web celebrity. Of course, they don’t follow me. We never have interaction. There is no reciprocity between these people and I. I follow them, just because I want to get information about them. Actually, they are not close to my daily life. So, in my opinion, this kind of reciprocity is unimportant.
For most, twitter is a two-way street.

April 23th Infographic

1) what is useful to you? (ie. what will you "steal?")
I really love this kind of inforgraphic which people can see a lot of pictures but few words. I can read this inforgraphic just like reading a picture-story book. Since it is colorful, it can catch people's eyes easily. What's more, using more pictures can help people to understand. This inforgraphic divide its content in three parts. The organization is clearly.
2) what is not useful to you? (ie. what won't you "steal?")
There are too much words. It could be better if there is only key words on the inforgraphic.
3) how does the model accomodate its content?
The topic is "What is a typical American lunch?" It uses pictures to show how a typical American lunch is. And it also use several sentences to analyze. In order to distinguish an American lunch with other countries' lunch, this inforgraphic shows the lunch of other countries.

My TEDTalk is "How to make choice easier?" It's a very useful speech to teach people how to make choice quickly and easier. The speaker introduced four ways.I think it is a very great TEDTalk. All of us face choice every day, even every time. Sometimes we don't know how to make a decision. The four methods which are introduced in the speech can be useful in our daily life. In order to convey the content of the speech more vivid, I create a specific situation. A girl wants to buy a new cloth for herself, but she can't make a decision.

Entry #9 How to use twitter bots in narrative

I think we can use twitter bots in many different ways. For example, we can use twitter bots to cause a conflict. In our story, the son didn’t want his father to manage this company at first. But he can’t refute his father face to face. He put such a tweet, “Who will like these outdated things?” What’s more, he put a picture of earthenware. He uses twitter bots to like this tweet. When it accumulated to a big number, he showed this to his father. His father decided to reconsider if he should still manager this company. However, a friend told his father the likes are made by twitter bots. Then, there comes a conflict between father and son.
In order to avoid strangers’ harassment, some people may use twitter bots to reply strangers. Then it can make some mistakes. For example, A is new on twitter and he follows his female friend B. But B does not know it was A, she put B into stranger list. B greets A warmly, but twitter bots reply him.

Entry #8

The workshop aims at highlighting the potential of infographic thinking. Participants will be taught how to make infographic. In this way, participants can know more about infographic.
I think this workshop is quite cool. In this course, I have learned a little about infographic. I realized it can be a good way to convey some information quickly and effectively. Actually, infographic can be everywhere. Compared with a speech or an article, infographic can be more interesting and easier to read. I really admire people who can make wonderful infographic. Workshop is a good way to spread infographic. During the workshop time, participants can not only know the knowledge of infographic but also learn how to make it.
